Terms & Conditions
By booking a stay or visiting The Cosmic Camp ("the Camp", "we", "us"), you ("the Guest") agree to the following terms.
1. Bookings & check-in
- A booking is confirmed only after receipt of the advance payment communicated on WhatsApp or email.
- Guests must present a valid government-issued photo ID at check-in. Foreign nationals must carry a valid passport and any permits required for the region.
- Standard check-in is 1:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM, unless agreed otherwise.
- The Stargazer Cabin accommodates a maximum of 2 adults. Occupancy limits for each cabin type must be respected.
2. High-altitude environment — assumption of risk
- The Camp is located at approximately 4,420 m (14,500 ft) above sea level. Travel to high altitude carries inherent health risks, including Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), which can affect any person regardless of age or fitness.
- Guests are solely responsible for assessing their fitness to travel to high altitude, obtaining medical advice where appropriate, carrying personal medication, and acclimatising adequately before arrival.
- By staying at the Camp, Guests voluntarily assume all risks associated with high-altitude travel, remote terrain, weather, and outdoor activities. The Camp's team will assist in emergencies to the best of its ability, but the nearest medical facilities are in Kaza and may be limited.
3. Activities
- Stargazing sessions, fossil walks, treks, and village excursions are undertaken at the Guest's own risk. Guests must follow the instructions of Camp staff and local guides at all times.
- The Camp may cancel or modify any activity due to weather, safety concerns, or circumstances beyond its control, without liability.
4. Force majeure & natural calamities
- Spiti Valley is a remote Himalayan region subject to landslides, road closures, heavy snowfall, flash floods, earthquakes, extreme weather, and interruptions to power, water, fuel, and telecom networks.
- The Camp shall not be liable for any failure or delay in providing services, nor for any loss, injury, expense, or inconvenience caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including natural calamities, road or pass closures, government orders, curfews, strikes, civil unrest, pandemics, or acts of God.
- In such events, the Camp will make reasonable efforts to assist Guests and, where a stay cannot be provided at all, offer rescheduling or credit as described in the Cancellation Policy.
5. Limitation of liability
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Camp, its owners, and staff shall not be liable for any personal injury, illness (including AMS), death, or loss or damage to personal property, vehicles, or belongings, except where caused by the Camp's proven gross negligence.
- In all cases, the Camp's total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount paid by the Guest for their stay.
- Guests are strongly advised to hold personal travel and medical insurance covering high-altitude travel and evacuation.
6. Guest conduct & safety
- The Camp reserves the right of admission and may refuse or terminate the stay of any Guest whose behaviour is unsafe, unlawful, abusive to staff, other guests, or villagers, or damaging to property or the environment — without refund.
- Guests are liable for any damage they cause to Camp property.
- Open flames, smoking inside cabins, drones without permits, loud music, and littering are not permitted. Please respect village customs, religious sites, and quiet hours after 11 PM.
- Any illegal activity, threat, or harassment on the premises will result in immediate removal and may be reported to the authorities.
7. Pets
- The Camp is pet friendly. Pets stay free of charge but must be kept leashed around livestock, wildlife, and other guests, and must not be left unattended in cabins.
- Owners are fully responsible and liable for their pet's behaviour, safety, and any damage or injury caused by the pet.
8. Children
- Children are welcome at the Camp (except where a cabin type specifies adults only) and must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. The terrain is uneven and unfenced.
9. General
- These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in Himachal Pradesh shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
- If any provision of these terms is held invalid, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.
